Don’t Get Confused With MBA and Executive MBA
In
general people by mistake think that an Executive MBA (EMBA) is superior to an
MBA or a better counterpart. This is not true but. The two programs are
different, meant for different types of career goals, need different levels of
engagement commitment and above all their formats are different. In fact, most
of the top business schools in hyderabad
offer both the formats.
Let’s
understand their differences.
MBA and EMBA: Differences in
course schedule and duration
A
traditional MBA is a two-year program, to be attended on campus for the period.
EMBA too is a general management qualification like MBA and usually takes two
years to complete (could be less or more depending on the college). But this is
done part-time with evening classes or weekend classes to attend. So this is a
part-time program, unlike a normal MBA.
MBA and
EMBA: Differences course structure, study-life and approach
Since
traditional MBA is a full-time program it requires a total involvement with
studies and in lifestyle too. Because such programs are attended by full-time
students alone who have only one commitment, that is to attend classes and
study.
In case if working professional wishes to
attend this program, the person will have to leave the job to study. Therefore
an MBA is an immersive post-graduate program that needs total commitment to
studies for two full years.
EMBA
program is not part-time alone, but it is designed to cater to students who can
manage studies with full-time work. The program or the class timings differ from
college to college and you must select the one that suits you the most.
MBA and
EMBA: Differences in terms of location
For
traditional MBA, students often are able to relocate to the location of their
school, by either taking hostel accommodation or rented ones near a college.
EMBA
as are taken mostly by full-time working students, they chose a college that is
located at an easily commutable distance without investing too much time or
energy so that they can attend classes from their workplace. It then boils down
to the fact that such students are often restricted in their choice of college.
Here
traditional MBA has a better edge because students can relocate to anywhere in
the world to attend their favourite college, which the EMBA does not offer.
EMBA
on the other hand with its flexibility can offer much less impact on your
regular lifestyle, though it could offer challenges balancing work, life and
studies.
In spite of the remarkable differences, EMBA
and MBA both have their own popularities as per the target groups’ choices and
preferences. This is the reason behind the growing popularity of EMBA and this
makes almost all the best b school in
hyderabad coming
up with EMBA programs.
